THE MONTH OF JUNE 1940
The month of June 1940 is renowned for being the most difficult of the Second World War. A large number of R.A.F. airmen lost their lives. Their bodies were picked up from the beaches by the German Authorities often after several months floating in the sea. They now lie at rest in our French soil. Some bodies have never been identified. A small Commonwealth War Graves plaque is placed at the entrace of each cemetery sheltering such graves (Commonwealth War Graves).
